Best Mailchimp Alternatives for Small Businesses
The short answer
MailerLite is the best Mailchimp alternative for most small businesses. It covers campaigns, forms, landing pages and useful automation with simpler billing and less day-to-day work.
The right alternative depends on why you want to leave. Sender offers more free capacity and supports irregular sending. Brevo changes the economics around send volume and adds SMS and transactional email. Constant Contact is better for events and live guidance. GetResponse adds funnels, webinars and deeper follow-up.
If Mailchimp feels too complicated
Choose MailerLite
MailerLite is the clearest switch for a business that wants ordinary email marketing to stay manageable. Its groups and segments are easier to govern than several separate Mailchimp audiences, and the editor, forms and landing pages cover the everyday job well.
The compromise is less reporting, fewer integrations and less migration assistance. It is the strongest default when you are willing to rebuild the programme carefully.
If Mailchimp costs too much
Choose Sender for free capacity or seasonal bursts
Sender Free supports 2,500 subscribers and 15,000 monthly sends. Its pay-as-you-go option also removes the standing contact subscription for an occasional sender.
Choose EmailOctopus for a simple newsletter
EmailOctopus Free supports 2,500 subscribers and 10,000 monthly emails. Pro remains deliberately focused and inexpensive. Choose it when automation and reporting depth are not important.
Do not compare only today's entry price. Estimate contacts, sends, users, workflow needs and the staff time required to rebuild the programme.
If your list is large but you do not email everyone constantly
Choose Brevo
Brevo makes monthly send volume central and can store a large audience. It also combines marketing campaigns with SMS and transactional messages.
The plan is more complicated than the headline suggests. Stored contacts, automation reach, users and features still vary by tier. Brevo is the right alternative when those options solve a real problem.
If you need events and live support
Choose Constant Contact
Constant Contact includes event registration, tickets, payments, invitations and attendee follow-up. It also offers phone and chat support. These can justify the price for local organisations, classes and nonprofits.
It is not the best value for an ordinary newsletter or advanced automation programme.
If you need deeper follow-up, funnels or webinars
Choose GetResponse
GetResponse is a more capable email-led growth suite. Marketer adds deeper workflows, segmentation, funnels and webinars.
The extra depth brings a much higher plan price and more maintenance. Choose it when it replaces real tools, not because the feature list is longer.
If design is the main reason
Consider Flodesk
Flodesk gives creators and service businesses an especially visual, simple workflow. Paid plans include unlimited sends but now scale with active subscribers, and meaningful automation requires more than the entry plan.
- Campaign Monitor another design-led option, particularly for agencies and client workflow.
If your existing business system shapes the choice
Consider Zoho Campaigns for a Zoho business
Zoho Campaigns is most useful when it keeps campaign data close to Zoho CRM or Zoho One. If the business does not already use Zoho, it has less reason to displace MailerLite.
Consider a different category when the job has changed
- ActiveCampaign or HubSpot CRM-linked Marketing Automation.
- Klaviyo or Omnisend ecommerce retention and store-event workflows.
- Kit or beehiiv: creator publishing, sponsorships and paid newsletters.
- Givebutter: fundraising, donor records and campaign payments.
- Postmark or Mailgun: application-generated transactional email.
These are not interchangeable Mailchimp clones. They solve a different primary job.
Before you migrate
Export more than active contacts:
- audiences, groups, tags and custom fields;
- unsubscribed, bounced and cleaned contacts;
- templates and campaign history;
- customer journeys and automation logic;
- forms, landing pages and embedded code;
- integrations, tracking and sender domains.
Rebuild one workflow at a time. Authenticate the new provider, import suppressions first and test with a small segment. Keep the old account available until forms, unsubscribe handling and every critical integration works end to end.
Verdict
Start with MailerLite if you are leaving Mailchimp for simplicity or value. Choose another alternative only when a clear need—send volume, events, irregular campaigns, deeper follow-up, design or a different business system—changes the decision.
