Brevo
Brevo is strongest when send volume or several message types shape the choice
Brevo combines marketing email, automation, SMS and transactional messages with pricing built around how much you send. It can suit a large stored audience, but you must check contacts, sends, users and feature limits together.
Who should choose Brevo
- A large stored list that is not emailed in full every week.
- A business combining campaigns with transactional messages or SMS.
- Follow-up sequences that need more than a basic autoresponder.
- A team willing to check capacity, users and add-ons carefully.
What Brevo does well
- Send volume is central to pricing.
- Free stores up to 100,000 contacts and allows 300 sends a day.
- Automation can use email, SMS and webhook actions.
- Marketing and transactional messages can sit with one provider.
- Contact imports deduplicate the same person across lists and preserve blocked-contact status.
Brevo can save money when you store many contacts but email only part of the audience each month. Its wider messaging tools also reduce the need to connect several separate services.
What to weigh up
- Send allowance, stored contacts, users and features all interact.
- The daily Free limit can make campaign scheduling awkward.
- Lower plans restrict the number of contacts that automations can reach and limit advanced reporting.
- SMS, WhatsApp and other channels bring separate credits and more work.
- Landing-page editing is less polished, and support access varies by plan.
What Brevo costs in practice
Free starts at $0. Starter begins at $9 a month and Standard at $18, but those are starting prices rather than like-for-like quotes. Choose the required monthly sends, then verify stored contacts, automation reach, users, branding and add-ons at that tier.
Prepaid email credits suit occasional campaigns and do not expire. They keep Starter-level feature limits, so they do not unlock everything in Standard.
Before you switch
Import contacts with their permission and blocked-contact status. Authenticate the domain and decide which messages are marketing or transactional. If several teams share Brevo, set permissions before connecting other systems.
When another platform fits better
- MailerLite easier for ordinary newsletters and landing pages.
- Sender more generous free capacity and a simpler credit option.
- GetResponse stronger for funnels, webinars and email-led conversion.
- Mailchimp broader familiar integrations.
- Marketing Automation a better category when CRM-linked journeys dominate.
Verdict
Choose Brevo when send volume or combining message types changes the economics. Do not rely on the lowest starting price until contacts, sends, automations and users have been checked together.
