Publer vs Buffer

Publer and Buffer both offer a free queue for social posts and paid plans that grow with connected accounts. Publer is particularly worth a look for bulk preparation and paid content recycling. Buffer brings publishing, comment replies and reports together, with unlimited members on its Team plan.

The choice depends on whether you mainly want to prepare and reuse more content or manage the post and its response in the same service.

What each product adds

ProductUseful starting pointMain paid reason to consider it
PublerThree-account free queueBulk imports, automation and content recycling
BufferThree-account free queue with comments and InsightsMore publishing capacity or team approvals with unlimited members

Compare the free allowances

Both free plans allow one user and ten queued posts per account across three accounts. A queue can refill as posts publish; it is different from a limit of ten posts in a whole month.

Publer Free excludes X and keeps only twenty-four hours of posting history. Buffer's free service also includes its Community and Insights tools.

Preparing and reusing content

Publer's paid bulk tools let you import posts and media together, then adjust the content for different networks. Business adds analytics and recycling, so useful material can return on a chosen schedule instead of being prepared again. Recurring posts can have expiry dates for temporary offers.

Buffer offers drafts, ideas and an account-by-account queue. It is a straightforward way to adapt one announcement for different networks and see the wider schedule. Its comment tools also help you follow the conversation after publication.

What changes when you pay?

PlanAdvertised starting priceMain difference
Publer Professional$5 monthly for one accountMore publishing capacity and automation; extra accounts and members cost more
Publer Business$10 monthly for one accountAdds analytics and recycling
Buffer Essentials$5 per account per month with annual billingPaid publishing and advanced analytics for one user
Buffer Team$10 per account per month with annual billingUnlimited members, permissions and approvals

The similar headline numbers use different billing periods and feature bundles. Publer's figures above are monthly; Buffer's require annual payment. For three accounts, Publer Professional starts at $13 monthly and Business at $24 monthly, using their published additional-account charges. Buffer's equivalent three-account annual rates are $15 for Essentials or $30 for Team per month.

Team access changes the comparison again. Publer charges for additional members, while Buffer Team includes unlimited members. The account count, people involved and need for recycling or approvals matter more than the single-account price.

Our verdict

Choose Publer when bulk preparation and reusable content are the main improvements you want. Choose Buffer when publishing, comment replies and shared team work are more important. Both give you a useful free queue; their paid differences become clearer once you decide what should happen before and after a post goes out.
